About Me

Hi, I’m Scott Blair. Freelance Cinema & Film Festival Consultant, Film Events Practitioner and all round film buff.

I’ve always had a passion for film and knew from a young age, I wanted to work in the industry. It was only when I first became involved with Edinburgh International Film Festival as a Young Programmer, I knew I wanted to work in Film Exhibition, cinemas and film festivals in supporting the work they do and in creating amazing and interesting experiences for audiences.

This is a big reason for creating The Unbound Screen. I believe that the power of the screen and film is unlimited, strong and unbound in nature. It’s something I want to help cinemas, film festivals and other organisations & groups to harness and develop. A big part of this is through consulting, especially focusing on Cinemas and Film Festivals, I hope to bring my unique perspective as well as my skills and experience to support the work they do and to build their audiences. As a young person myself, I am especially keen in supporting youth engagement and young audience development. as well as programming, curation and business practices.

Another aspect of The Unbound Screen is creating interesting experiences for audiences through developing, producing and presenting film and screen events and content. From a classic blockbuster, archival film, independent film and local productions, I want to help bring interesting content to new audiences, enriching local film culture and supporting local venues and businesses. I am also really interested in film education and helping facilitate learning and discussion around film, helping to create a new interest and understanding in film for audiences of all ages and backgrounds.

Beyond this, I am always interested in learning about new aspects of the industry and expanding my own skills and experiences as well as writing about and researching film in all it’s forms. I am always interested in new ideas, methods and opportunities and am always up for conversation and discussion on anything especially new ideas and projects, my inbox is always open.
