With the pandemic continuing to cause issues for film exhibition with cinemas and venues forced to remain close and audiences watching from home, I knew that I would not be doing much work myself and especially with ‘The Unbound Screen’. So I wanted to try and get out there a bit more, find some voluntary roles to keep me engaged and thinking about cinema. Luckily I came across Ramsgate International Film & TV Festival who where seeking people to join their selection committee for the next addition of their festival. Having done similar work before, I felt more than happy to be a submission viewer and give my opinion on new and interesting projects the festival received.

In this role, starting in December 2020, I have been viewing a vast array of content submitted via FilmFreeway and giving it a rating on it’s quality, a predicted BBFC rating along with my personal opinion on the content. From film and shorts to television and music videos, the content has been really interesting to view and rate. Being apart of another festival, even in unusual and not so ideal circumstances, is a really rewarding experience.
